PRESENTATIONS.
On the occasion of her severing her connection with the Opotiki school,-Mrs. Tidmarsh, who has been an assistant teacher for the past four years, and is to take up an appointment at- Beresford Street, was presented by the staff with a handsome Sevres bowl, the headmaster, Mr. Burton, officiating. Mr. Tidmarsh and his wife wore presented by Mr. Reeves, president of the Lawn Tennis Club, with a travelling rug. Mr. Tidmarsh will be staying on for a few months. His scholars of the sixth standard presented him with a case of pipes. A public farewell was extended to Mr. and Mrs. H. Arnold in the Empire Theatre, Morrinsville. Mr. Arnold has been for 15 years stationmaster at Morrinsville, and has just retired from the service. On behalf of the citizens, the Mayor, .Mr. C. M. Gummer. presented Mr. Arnold with an illuminated address and a purse of sovereigns. On behalf of the railway staff Mr. Arnold was handed a framed photograph of a group of the Morrinsville railwayman, a travelling rug and two suitcases, one being for Mrs. Arnold. Mr. Gummer paid a great tribute to Mr. Arnold, who, he said, had endeared himself to all with his unfailing kindness and consideration, combined with cheerfulness and courtesy to the travelling public. At the breaking-up ceremony of the Wanganui School, the headmaster,. Mr. C. it. Smith, who is retiring, was presented with two cases of pipes and a gold-mounted pouch, suitably inscribed. The gifts were from the children and i were handed to Mr. Smith by Mr. Chamberlain, chairman of the committee. One of the largest and most representative gatherings held at Herekino took place in Mr. Edwards' hall recently, to bid farewell to Mr. and Mrs. Walsh, who are retiring from the teaching profession to reside in Auckland. Mr. Walsh has held the position of head teacher of the Herekino public school for over 10 years. Mr. Vickers. member of t lie County Council, on behalf of the children and resi- . dents, presented Mr. and Mrs. Walsh with valuable and useful gifts, and wished them much happiness and prosperity.
