TWO NONAGENARIANS. . MR, JOHN SCOTT'S CAREER,,, The death occurred yesterday at the. age of 95 of Mr. John Scott, a resident of New Zealand for over 60 years, and of Auckland for nearly 20 years. Mr. $c«U was born at Little Dtmkeld, Perthshire, Scotland, and on coming to New Zealapd settled in Otago near the head of Laba Wakatipu. He was prominent in pioneering in the Cold Lakes district, and took part in the Dunstan gold rush. The family is noted for its longevity. Mr. Scott's brothers and sisters' all attained a greater age than 85, tko.c&ly one now surviving being a sister in Christchurch, whose age is 90. . Mr. Scott always took a keen interest in the wcrk cf the Presbyterian Church. His wife died a year ago, and he is survived by one son, the Eev. D. D. Scott, ot Onehunga, MRS. B. GARDES. A resident of New Zealand for 60 years, Mrs. Bridget Gardes, died yesterday at Devonport at the age of 90. SHe was born at Limerick, Ireland, in 1835. and went to Australia when 12 years old. Later she came to New Zealand and settled at Hokitika, where she was married.- 3a 1880 Mr. and Mrs. Gardes moved to Palmerston North, where Mr. Gardes died 15 years ago. Six years ago Mrs, Gardes came to Auckland. She is Survived by two of the four children,
