The completion of the line to Pukehnia has been a great boon to up-river settlers and storekeepers. The former are now enabled to truck stock in the morning and land it at Westfield the same day. A large quantity of wool is also going to Auckland this way. Storekeepers state that a considerable saving has been made in cost of freight since the lme opened. A saving in freight ou manures and lime has also been effected. The new outlet from Dargaville to Auckland, via Pukehuia and Waiotira, is now becoming popular among travellers.
