TOTALISATOR ODDS.

A CONSTABLE'S INVESTMENTS. MAN FINED FORTY POUNDS. Two charges of laying totalisator odds were admitted by Thomas Cutts (Mr. Alan Moody) in the Police Court yesterday. Chief-Detective Cummings said a constable made several 10s bets with accused and picked a " winner." Cutts was suffering from a war injury, and could not. do hard work. Mr. Moody said he would give an assurance that accused would cease illegal betting. He had not been very successful, but the only money he owed was the. £2 dividend, which the constable had not yet collected. This would be paid immediately. Accused was fined £2O on each charge.
