COMPLEXION SECRETS.
A smart Frenchwoman uses a softer tone of complexion powder in the evening than that chosen for the daytime, because artificial light quickly shows up any lines that may be forming on the skin. If her nose is too short she applies a very fine line of powder right down the middle of her nose, the powder being considerably whiter here than -on tho rest of her face. If her nose is too wide at the tip for real beauty she puts more powder on the cartilage between the nostrils hot less on the outer edge of the nostrils. When she applies lip-stick she pats the colour on the middle of her lips only, and very lightly shades it towards the sida% . but does not let it reach the corners, as to do so is to increase the apparent size of the mouth. To improve her eyebrows and give them a glossy appearance she adds a drop of oil to "the liquid darkener, which she applies very carefully with a small brush. Fot her evelashes she uses the same liquid darkener, but after applying it, and before it is quite dry, she brushes them upwards with a very fine soil brush. This prevents the hairs of the eyelashes from sticking together {which they so often do when "make-up" is carelessly applied) and also removes any excess of the liquid which may have settled on the She" adds a very slight touch of rouge nnder her chin and on the lobes of her ears, and by so doing enhances the charm of her face.
