LEVEL-CROSSING ACCIDENTS.

Sir,—The constantly recurring accidents at railway crossings to which the unfortunate Featherston. fatality again draws attention, Bhould be preventible. During a discussion on the matter a suggestion was mads, that it would be good policy for the Minister for Railways to offer premiums for the most efficient ideas or schemes submitted to deal with the " deadly level crossing." The offer of premiums would bo something definite for a man to work, to, and should stimulate industry and research in those whose bent lies in that direction. "In the multitude of counsellors there is wisdom," so though no one scheme might be thoroughly efficient- something might be evolved from the bulk. Pkevkntion. Parnell, December 8.
