On all. hands tho dual victory registered by Great Brag en at Forbury Park last week is very highly extolled, and the performances wore invested with such a fine dash of brilliancy tun to give tho Canterbury horse tho leading place among present-day performers in tho Dominion. Great Bingen who ranks as . a six-year-old horao, made his debut at three years old. carrying the colours of Mr. J. R. McKenzie. There wan nothing remarkable about Great Bingen at the early stage of his career, but he was always regarded as ' a horae from whom a lot might be expected as he matured. Great Bingen must bo accounted to have endorsed that opinion in a marked degree. Up to date ho has contested 38 races and his record stands as follows: UnFirst. Second. Third, placed. At 3yrs . . 1 1 1. 3 At lyrs . . 4 2 1 3 At Syrs . . 3 4 1 3 At 6yrs . . 5 3 2 1 Great Bingen. as his name implies, r is a descendant of the American-bred sire Nelson Bingen. and strong strains figure in Ins pedigree. His grandsire, Bingen, has a 2.6 i record. Bertha Bell (dam of Great Bingen) is a daughter of the celebrated Peter the Great, so that on breeding lines it will be ciuickly recognised that there is a fine train of circumstances to . enable Great Bingen to attain marked distinction What has a right to bo regarded .as a very pleasing fact in connection with Cireat Bingen is that he is an entire and that makes the Dominion rich in possessing another very noteworthy performer as a sire. Up to date Great Bingen has won stakes to tho value of over £BOOO, so that it is quite possible he will take a place with the select number of horses who have won amounts running to five figures before the season ends. MISCELLANEOUS ITEMS. Direct Action has been purchased by Messrs. G. E. Morgon and F. J. Docnerty and has entered A. Julian's stable. Direct Action is ,an Australian-bred, trotter by Don Pronto, and was recently brought from Svdney by Mr. K. C. Simpson. He has engagements at the Auckland summer meeting. There are auite a number of young trotters in work at Alexandra Park and some of them are showing good promise. A couple that have been shaping well are the colt by Grand Voyage from Miss Marvin Downs and the full-sister to Betty Moko. Ihe Grand Vo.vaae colt has furnished considerably since beint: taken in hand and is thriving on his work. Mv Junior continues to please the trackwatchers at Alexandra Park, where he has been recording very attractive work. Ihe black trotter is a mass of. condition and will be in strone demand with backers whenever he appears in public. My Junior has not yet raced this season, but will probably compete at the coming meeting. A. Julian has been keeping Pyramus and Haricot movine and the pair are in good heart. P.vramus won the. Rowe Handicap last year from a 4.43 mark, arid is undoubtedly ono of the best trotters m Auckland. It should not be for want of condition if she fails to race prominently m her engagements at the end of the month. Compared with, the way he was handicapped last season. Aerial Bingen is nicely treated in the Rowe Handicap.. We have hoard little of Aerial Bingen since he has been trained at A vend ale by T. Roe, but ho is in the right hands to be produced at his best. Aerial Bingen in hi 3 top form would be troublesome among tne trotters at the coming meeting. Rose Bingen gave an indication last month that sho was returning to her best form. After her recent racing she should strip a very fit mare at the Auckland summer meet ing' Rose Bingen should be . capable of making a bold bid for honours m the Howe Handicap. The trotters Lord Roberts and Wimmera King are being allotted plenty ox so.ld work and should strip in great heart for tho Auckland summer meeting. It would be pleasing to find W. Wilson rewarded for the patience he has expended on Delavan Bill, but he will find it hard to place the hor?e to advantage. There is no doubt about the speed of Delavan Bill, but he is most erratic* m addition to which he is occasionally troubled with bleeding. P Rogers has Wallroon, Moko Pete. Nelson McCormack, and La Fayette moving along nicelv at Mangere in preparation for the Auckland summer meeting. His charges comprise a useful little team tor that gathering. Dean Dillon and Hypo have not been idle since the la«t meeting and will be mute readv for their engagements at the Auckland summer meeting, at which both are freebr engaged. AUCKLAND TROTTING CLUE. The following handicaps, which were withheld are now declared for the December Handicap (II miles) Machine Gun. limit; Joe Aspro. 12vds bhd.
