VISITOR FROM PAPATOETOE. HOW THE ACCIDENT OCCURRED. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] GISBORNE, Tuesday. Further particulars of the fatal accident which occurred yesterday on the W airoa-Waikareraoana Road, resulting in the death of Mrs. Gibb, aged between 60 and 70 years, and minor injuries and shock to three other people, show that Mr. W. G. Donaldson, chief operator of the Tuai power-house, Waikaremoana, was driving home in his car with his wife and child and his mother-in-law, Mrs. Gibb, of Papatoetoe, who was on a visit to her daughter. Near Taheke station the car came into collision with a telegraph post, rolled down a bank and fell into t]je Waikaretahere River at a spot where the water was 6ft. deep. Mrs. Gibb was drowned and the others sustained minor injuries and shock. Medical assistance was soon forthcoming and the injured persons were taken to the County Hospital. Mrs. E. Deverey, wife of another operator at the power station, had come to town in the car to take her husband out of hospital and was to have gone back with Mr. Donaldson. She changed her mind about doing so that day.
