Princess Ronnie looked to bo going easier than Foreign Fancy at the conclusion of four furlongs in 50 4-ss. Kawini completed his work with four furlongs in 52 3-ss. Queen Arch was responsible for the best gallop of the morning, and covered six furlongs in lm 16s with a fair weight up. She went fast in the middle stages, and finished strongly. Stanwayj jumped four hurdles satisfactorily. NOTES FROM THE TRACK. It was stated last week that W. H. Jones would ride Oration in the Railway Handicap, but such will not be the case. It is understood that there was a misunderstanding over the engagement, and Jones will have another mount. L. Manson will ride Desert Glow, Constellation and Drawbridge at Te Awamutu on Saturday. Polonett worked nicely yesterday, and is none the worse for his recent racing. It is more than likely that J. Buchanan will steer Polonett in the Te Awamutu Cup on Saturday. Queen ArcH fail&d badly in the Great Northern Guineas, but it, would be unwise to accept her showing in that event as her correct form. During the past week she has been infusing plenty of dash into her work, and galloped really well yesterday. Queen Arch should trouble her opponents in the Kihikihi Handicap at Te Awamutu. Nothing strenuous has-been exacted from Lomint during the past week. She is suffering from soreness, and has been moving very scratchily. B. Rosen will probably have the mount on Ballymoy 11. in the Railway Handicap. Tactician has been working nicely, and should strip a fit horse at Te Awamutu on Saturday. Tactician ;s engaged in the Paterangi Welter, and has previously shown his worth in this class of event. Prince Abbey continues to do well for J. Anderton. and gallopef attractively yesterday. In the past he has been a very erratic performer, but he is in excellent trim at present, and may show further good form during the summer months. While running out in a paddock at Avondale on Monday evening last Smoke broke a leg and had to bo destroyed. Smoke was an aged gelding by Boniforui from Big Blast, and only a moderate performer. Last season his best performance m 20 starts was to finish third to Sleepy Sol and Namutere in the Stewards' Handicap at Whangarei. Recently ho was put to hurdling, but had shown no form at that branch of the game. WANGANUI NOTES. HORSES FOR AUCKLAND. [BY TELEGRAM. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] WANGANUI, Tuesday. W. Rayner will take Lysander. Mask. Deluge, and The Thorn to Auckland at Christmas, but Motley will probably go to Awapuni for the Palmerston North Stakes, in which, on her form at Feilding, she appears to have a good chance, W. Rayner is well satisfied with the way The Thorn is going, and. despite the fact that a mile and a-half is generally held to be too far for an Absurd, there are not wanting those who look to The Thorn to keep the best of the others busy. Mask has made such improvement lately that he will be hard to beat in whatever events he starts at Ellerslie. Even the Derby may not be beyond him. as he should stay out the distance all right. The Fordetl team for Ellerslie will probably comprise Mandane. Tukia, Limited. Shiaing Armour, and a filly by Absurd—Hinepango. The last-mentioned filly is. like Shining Armour, owned by Mr. Russell Grace, a steward of the Wanganui Jockey Club, and it is said she has shown more than average pace on the tracks. As Runnvmede has gone to Australia, the Great Northern Derby looks more open than it did, and Mandane's prospects cannot be ignored. The Panmure filly improved greatly with the racing at Riccarton, and it would not bo surprising to see her making a bold bid for victory in the classic contest at Ellerslie, Even had Runnymede stayed in the Dominion, there were some who looked to Mandane to run a big race against him. It is safe to say that if Tukia and Enthusiasm are taken to Auckland for the cup meeting they will show a lot of improvement on their form at Feilding. Enthusiasm has been nominated for the Manawatu Cup. and she promises to be hard to beat in that event, as she ran two good races at Feilding and should be considerably improved by Christmas. Tamatete is the only other representative of the Fordell stable engaged at Awapuni. Adavale won her race at Feilding in pleasing style, and it is evident the Limond— Intrigue filly is going to prove very useful. She is to run at Awapuni at Christmas. Anklet did not run into a place at Feilding, but the Absurd—Bronze filly will probably make good later on. She will be seen out again at. the Manawatu meeting. Elvsinnor did not run up to expectations at Feilding, but he may be seen to inoro advantage at the Woodville meeting. There ia an inclination in some quarters to write Tamatete out of the Palmerston North Stakes, as it is thought he will not run out six furlongs with Lady Cavendish or Motley. This view may prove the correct one. but it will be over the last little bit only that Tamatete will *ail if he is beaten. Some Red has been such a disappointment this season that it is not surprising B. T Bennett has tired of him. The All Red gelding has plenty of pace, but appears to have turned cunning. W. Dwyer intends putting Alaric into work again, and the son of San Fran should be back to something like form by the time the Wanganui autumn meeting comes round, Serhaps earlier, aa the gelding cornea to and very quickly. , FORtfIICOMINCx MEETINGS. Nominations for all events to bo run at the M&rton Jockey Club's Summer Meeting closo on Friday next, at 9 p.m., with the secretary, Mr. A. Way. The Alexandra Racing Club's programme will require attention from horse owners to-day, nominations closing for all events.
