SWIMMING.
GRAMMAR CLUB'S GALA. KRONFELD LOWERS RECORD. A successful gala was held last evening bv the Grammar Swimming and Life-Saving Club at the Tepid Baths. There was a good attendance. The feature of the swimming was L. L. Kronfeld'a successful attempt to lower the New Zealand record of 1m 47 4-5s for 150 yards. Swimming strongly he improved on the time by 8 l-ss. An exhibition of plain and fancy swimmin™ was given by Mr. D. B. Anderson and a diving display by C. Wei son and E. V. Bruton. The South Auckland Centre of _ the New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association has granted premisaion to the Hamilton Lake Club to bold a gala on January 2 and to St. Peter's Bible Class to hold a carnival on December 29, An application from the Morrinsville Club was withheld until all requirements were corniced with. It was stated that the Cambridge Club intends to hold a carnival shortly.
