□ RILLING TO BEGIN SHORTLY
The statutory meeting af the Murchison Oil Company was held yesterday. There was a good attendance of shareholders, the chairman of the provisional directorate, Mr. H. J 1). Robertson, presiding. The directors' report was adopted and the meeting elected as the first directors those who had acted provisionally:— Messrs. H. J. D. Robertson, E. J. Vallentine, H. T. Goldie, J. Bassett and R. A. M. Colver. The appointment of Mr. B. Bassett as secretary was also confirmed. The secretary reported that the drilling plant and other material had been delivered to the site selected for the first bore, and the head driller would arrive within a week, everything being in readiness for the commencement of active operations. Mr. J. Spencer, the company's consulting geologist, briefly discussed the. company's prospects, expressing his complete confidence that the enterprise would prove the existence of a valuable oilfield.
