HUAPAI NEWS.
NEW POST OFFICE WANTED. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT, ] KT.TMEU, Monday. Enthusiastic support is being given to a petition for the provision of a post office to serve tho Huapai district.. Already over 50 householders have signed. At present, postal facilities are provided by Mr. W. IT. Malins at the Huapai store, but the business has grown to such an extent that it is considered that a full-time, official should Vie placed in charge. '1 he growth of population which is following the provision of a train to Kumeu from Auckland just after five in the evenings is being stressed by the petitioners. The, heavy lorries which are used in carting metal for new works at present in progress, enabling rapid progress to be made, are breaking up the roads over which they travel and considerable patching work has to lie done to keep them in fair order. Mr. Glasgow, riding member on the Waitemata County Council, has been asked to obtain comparative statements of cost of handling metal with heavy and light motor vehicles.
