TE AWAMUTU NOTES.
HAYMAKING IN PROGRESS.
[BT TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] TE AWAMTJTU, Saturday. The official opening of the Te Awamutu Co-operative Dairy Company's new butter / factory will take place on Wednesday. Many farmers in the district have made a start with haymaking. The weight of the crop this year is not as heavy as usual. There is a probability that some of the paddocks will be shut up again to secure a second crop, the very late spring having caused the reserve stacks of hay to be heavily drawn upon. The value of lucerne has been recognised by many dairymen in the Te Awamutu district. Indeed, on some farms the lucerne paddock is recognised as the most important part of the property, and the owner looks after it well, cutting the crop at the right time and applying lime dressings. The Te Awamutu Agricultural, Pastoral and Horticultural Association's executive committee has decided to make several additions to the schedule for the show next February. The pig section and four of ' the horse classes have been deleted. The additions include five classes in the horse section, two in the Jersey section, and guessing competitions. A special silver . / pup has been donated by Mr. G. H. Ahier for the best pedigree Jersey yearling heifer.
