FRENCH PRINCE'S TOUR.
PASSENGER ON AORANG I. DOMINION VISIT NEXT YEAR. BUSINESS AND PLEASURE. A member of one of the best-known and most distinguished families of France, Prince JaC( l ll °s de Broglie, is travelling by the Aorangi to Sydney.. Of middle- ■){,<> soldierly bearing, and speaking almost perfect English, he is on a 'business tour of the world The Prince, in an interview, said he was the managing director of the Bull Clock Company, with branches in France, England and America. The company manufactured electric clocks and coupled with a desire to see the world ho was travelling in the interests of the company. After visiting Australia, India, China, Japan and other Eastern countries ho would return to France via Australia, New Zealand and America. "On my way back I hope to spend some time in New Zealand, he said. "I would like very much to see this country." Ihe Prince stated that he read issues of the New Zealand Herald on the voyage fiorn Vancouver. "I was surprised and immensely pleased to find so much of the world's news in them," he'said. "The papers are so self-centred in America and 1 could, gather no news from France at all. 1 can see that you have room for every country in New Zealand." The Broglie family, which dates back to the year 1200, was of Italian origin. In the year 1600 the family migrated to France and has flourished there ever since. It has a proud record, having produced four marshals and two prime ministers. Ihe marshals lived during the reigns of Louis Xl\. and .Louis V. Victor de Broglie was the foremost statesman during the reign of Louis Philippe, and Albert de was Prime Minister of France in 1832, the most, difficult period after the Napoleonic wars. Prince Jacques de Broglie stated that the title of Prince was conferred in Prance just as a peerage was conferred in England. Except for the name the titles were much the same. When in France the Prince has his residence in the Avenue de Bois de Boulogne. The family own chateaux throughout France. The Prince will probably return to New Zealand early next year.
