CITY ORGANIST HONOURED.
PRESENTATION FROM CHOIR. APPRECIATION OF SERVICES. The Municipal Choir did honour to Mr. Maughan Barnett at the conclusion oi the concert in the Town Hall on Saturday evening bv presenting him -with a fine travelling nig in view of his • approaching trip. Mr. W. P. Gage-Brown, tha choir's secretary, who made the presentation, spoke of the confidence the choir had in Mr. Barnett as its conductor. He called upon the crowded audience to show its appreciation oi Mr. Barnett's work in giving the people of Auckland the highclass "music and singing which was now so popular. This was responded to., in an enthusiastic manner. Mr. Barnett thanked the choir for its appropriate gift. He stated that during the six years the, choir had been in existence" everything had run smoothly, all the memebrs being loyal and enthusiastic. This had bden an important factor in the success it had attained. He was very reluctant to leave his duties for a time awing to ill-health. He thanked the Mayor and the City Council, his professional colleagues and the public for their sympathy and kindness toward him. Mr. Barnett expects to leave for England at the end of this month and will return next June. He will visit? the principal centres of municipal music in England.
