BIBLE SOCIETY'S YEAR.

ACTIVITIES IN AUCKLAND. RECORD INCOME RECEIVED. The annual meeting of the Auckland auxiliary of the British and Foreign Bible Society was held at the Beresford Street Congregational Church last evening, the Rev. Lionel B. Fletcher presiding over a large attendance. The proceedings opened with a short service conducted by Canon Haselden and the Rev. W. A. Sinclair. Apologies were received from Archbishop Averill. president of the auxiliary, and the Rev. David Calder, of Wellington, the New Zealand general secretary.

The report, which was presented by Miss E. Harvey, the Auckland secretary, showed that satisfactory progress had been made during the year, new branches having been opened at Turua, Ngatea, Kerepeehi, Opotiki, Whakatane, Te Puke, Waihi and Ponsonby, making a total of 45 branches. The honorary treasurer, Mr. A. Macdonald, presented the financial statement., which disclosed a record year's income of £2093. Of that sum, £1676 had been remitted to London for actively furthering the work of the mission.

The reports were adopted. Mr. H. Field, in moving a vote of thanks and gratitude to the officers and voluntary workers, said the Auckland auxiliary had never been in so fortunate a position as it was to-day. Its finances were on a satisfactory footing, the year had ended with a record income, and the auxiliary boasted a larger host of honorary workers than ever before. He did not think a more satisfactory report had ever been submitted to an annual meeting of the auxiliary.
