THE ROWING SEASON.

WEEK-END ACTIVITIES,

PROMISING FORM SHOWN.

Local oarsmen again enjoyed splendid water conditions during the week-end, and much useful practice was carried out. The Waitemata Boating Club's trial fours produced a series of races marked by splendid form. Several new men figured in the crews, and their showing reflects credit upon the coaches. Contrary to anticipations, none of the crews was announced. The selectors are set a difficult task this season with so many fine oarsmen available.

The Auckland Club's trial fours attracted four crews, and great keenness was shown. The rowing was good, but thero was room for much improvement. The necessity for coaches in the shed was apparent. Splendid material is available, and with care the club should regain its old prestige. The club will take part in an invitation eight-oar race with North Shore next Saturday.

Darcy Hadfieid was afloat in his racing skiff during the week-end, and looked very fit.
