A slight contraction in the value of imports into Now Zealand is shown by tho returns for September, tho total having been £4,217,971, as compared with £4,682,366 in September of last year. This decline is probably tine to delay in tho delivery of cargoes from ships affected by the seamen's strike. For the nine months ended Septetnber 30, imports total £38,234,897, as against £36,137,756 in the corresponding period of last year, and £31,481,795 in 1923. The increase is £2,097,141 over last year and £6,753,102 over 1923. In the miscellaneous section, there is an increase of over £500,000, due mainly to the increase in motor vehicles, £438,000, and rubber tyres, £336,000. In the nine months, 16,154 motor vehicles wore imported, valued at £3,049,087, which gives an average of just over £1,000,000 a quarter.
