YOUNG MAN'S REVOLVER.
CARRIED ABOUT IN STREET. FINE OF FIVE POUNDS IMPOSED. A charge of having carried a revolver beyond the limits of his dwelling was made' against Elwm Patrick Keegan, aged 21 (Mr. Luxford), in the Police Court yesterday. Senior-Sergeant-' Edwards said that defendant was carrying the revolver about the town with him. - The police had received a complaint that he had threatened someone with it, but defendant denied that. Defendant thought the police were searching for the revolver, so he carried it about with him in order thai they should not find it. Mr. Luxford said there was nothing sinister in' the affair. The Magistrate, Mr. Hunt: You never know what might happen. It was no good fining defendant too much, but he would be fined £5 or a month's imprisonment. A week was allowed in which to pay. It was stated the maximum fine for the offence was £IOO.
