The latest figures available at 10 p.m. regarding the Maori election were announced by the Prime Minister to bis audience at Thames to-night. Mr. Coates remarked that the figures showed clearly a three to one majority for the Government.

Regarding the one non-Government member, Hon. A. T. Ngaia, Mr. Coates said Mr. Ngata was not a party man and his wide knowledge and experience were of the greatest possible value. "We form a little Parliament of five," he added, ''myself as Native Minister and the four Maori members. It is all done in private but we appreciate Mr. Ngata's help very much indeed."
