YESTERDAY MORNING'S WORK. BY ARCHER. The outside of the course proper—two trestles out —was available for fast work at Ellerslio yesterday and provided excellent .going. A good deal of interesting work was accomplished. COURSE PROPER. Gala Day was a shade in front of Broadwood at the end of seven furlongs in lm 32 3-58, Bright Light and Tintoretto were bracketed for six furlongs "in lm '2O 2-53.

Right and Left defeated Boomerday, by a length ov.er a mile and a quarter in 2m IT 4-ss, the last round taking 2m 4 1-os.

Serang and Tactician sprinted four furlongs in 525, with the former doing the better of the pair at the finish. .» Star Ranger went steadily over a mile and a quarter in 2s 245. running the last round in 2m 8 4-ss.

Polonett and Royal Present galloped seven furlongs in lm 33 2-58, finishing together. Frowning Beauty covered four furlongs in 545.

Cawnpore was going easily in front of Master Doon at the end of sis furlongs m lm 18 4-ss.

Orchus and Marble Mount traversed six furlongs in lm 20s. Sir Archie easily beat Mosaic over seven furlongs, lm 31 4-fis.

Merry Damon and Lomint jumped off at the now.mile post and ran their first five furlongs in lm 3 4-ss, and pulled up after going seven furlongs. They kept close together throughout.

Gold Mint easily defeated, King Cheops, who bled, over six furlongs m lm 18s, tho best six of the morning.

Arch Amio. Joy Ride and Gold Fern were in that order at the conclusion of six lurlongs in lm 18 4-ss.

Maveelish strode along for six furlongs in lm 23 2-ss.

•Musketoon, who was accompanied by Drawbridge over the mile, easily ran a mile and a Quarter in 2m 23 4-ss. the last round taking 2m 8 4-ss.

Kamohameha and Barometer were practically on terms several lengths in front ot Te Monanui, with Town Bank a couple of lengths further, back at the completion of a round in 2m 2 3-ss—tho best gallop of the morning over the distance. Wend ay. _ who joined over the last seven furlongs* fittiflnoci in the rear. The last seven took lm 34 4-ss* Te Monanui was going best at tho finish. Daylight and Princo Abbey ran four furlongs in 54 2-ss, King Emerald ajid Queen Emerald running the same distance in SoS.

Loyal Irish and Bizarro got over six furlongs in lm 20 3-ss. Royal Mint was timed to run seven furlongs in lm 395.

Gay Comet strodo along leisurely for six furlongs in lm 2G l-ss. Hipo sprinted down the straight and hit out nicely. Winsome Bov and Vexatious were together at tho end of six furlongs in lm 22a. Brushwood Boy went with them over tho first five but eased up over the last furlong. . Pom toy and Bute Sound ran six furlongs in lm 2is.

Daddy's Girl went, five furlongs from the old post in lm 8 3-os. Piton moved lazily over four furlongs in 56 3-ss.

Ballymoy 11. and Davo ran their first three furlongs ill 36 4-ss, and the latter easing up after going five, Ballymoy It. went on alone over the last furlong to finish up six furlongs in lm 19s. Farndon defeated Marble Slab over six furlongs, running the last five in lm 9s. Oration comfortably ran five furlongs from the old post in lm 7 4-ss, the last four in 52 4-ss. Persian King ran six furlongs in lm 265. and The Drifter covered three furlongs in 42 l-ss. AFTER BREAKFAST. Josio Melville sprinted four furlongs in 52 3-ss. Uralla and Pelbam run five furlongs from tho old post in lm 6 4-5s with the former going nicely at the finish. Queen Arch was timed to run __ the last three furlongs of her task in 41 2-ss. Danae, who received the worst of the jump-off. def&aled Wyoming and Killute over six furlongs in lm 19 2-ss. Royal Tea pleased by defeating Chamour over four furlong* run from the new fivefurlong post to tho mile and a Quarter post in 50s. Royal Tea did his work well. Kawine was too good for Rafferty over a mile and a. half .in 2m 52 2-sa, the lust round being run in 2m 10 • 2-ss. Karamu placed seven furlongs behind .in lm 38 l-ss.

Some Lady and Cherry Girl defeated Quincbma and Quinvardia over five furlongs from the new post in lm 5 3-ss. Holymond was responsible for six furlongs in lm 20 4-ss. Lady Ridicufo went nicely for seven furlongs in lm ai 3-ss, running the first four in 51s.

Judge's Box and Three Cheers got over six furlongs in lm 20 4-ss. Lapidary was to have gone with them but refused to jump off. After much trouble his rider got him going and he ran six furlongs in lm .19 l-ss.

Importer, with Day Bell to bring him home the last five furlongs, encompassed a round in 2m 5 l-os. Pittsworth was a shade better than Peter Ainaiis over a round in 2m 7 4-ss. A barrier was orect&d at the mile post and a number of two-year-olds were given barrier practice. From a barrier start Naasock, Clarus and Saucy Lass spurted three furlongs in 38 3-os, while Quaker Oats and War Officor went a furlong less in 26 3-ss, THE JUMPERS. Hard Prince (J. Mills) gave a bold display over four pony hurdles. Dick (W. Rennie) jumped the sod wall, doublo and stonewall in good style. He afterwards ran seven furlongs oil the outside of the course proper in lm 39 4-ss. Kendal cleared four hurdles well. NOTES FROM THE TRACK. Additional riding engagements announced are:—R. Orange: Arch Amio, Archibald, Boomerday and King Emerald; D. Mc Mullan. Miss Lucca and Karamu; E. Tuohey, Barometer; T, Tito, Vaward; and J. Mephan, Ballymoy 11. W. Rayner arrived by the Main Trunk express yesterday with Tho Thorn, Lysandor, Motley and Anklet.

Tho Hawera trainer, W. Pine, arrived yesterday. His horses, Vaward and Seatown. Were expected lo arrive last night, as also wero Star Area and Helen, wha are in charge of, J. Brown. A. Shearsby (one horse), H. Russell (three horses), M. Carroll (three horses), and J. T. Jamieson, all of whom have booked accommodation with W. Mobborley, are expected to arrive to-day.

, W. Donaldson was expected from/Whancrarei yesterday evening with Hoariri, Sunbar and Nocturne.

Dulien, Gold Jacket; R. Orange, Boomerday; A. Driscoll, Right and Left; T. Tito. Vaward; and E, Tuohey, Barometer. Cawnpore has been working well and should bo a good proposition this season. He is engaged in toe Shorts Handicap on Saturday, and is one of the possibilities among the. lightweight division. A young and improving horse ho is. probably better now than when he finished .fifth among the open sprinters in tho Hula Handicap at Ellerslio last autumn. Cawnpore is still eligible for hack events, and will have plenty of support if produced in that class during tho spring. Danao continues to please in her trwk efforts and is shaping well enough to suggest that she will soon win. among the hack .class. She is engaged in tho Gordon Handicap on Saturday and should make a bold showing in that event. • The Great Northern Guineas candidates Merry Damon and Lomint worked nicely yesterday, and will both have a good following. As stated previously. Merry Damon has done extremely well during recent weeks and was such a genuine customer last season that it will, not be surprising to find him in tho firing line at tho finish of we classic event on Saturday.

The three-year-old Gold Mint is a good track galloper, but so far has shown no form in public. Gold Mint displayed speed among tho hack claws at Te Rapa on Labour Day and is possibly improving with racing. A Tinker will rido King Lu. Ruapapa.
