PROSPEROTJS BREWERS. The financial columns of English newspapers recently to hand are lull of brewery reports. While trade in general is in a bad way and unemployment is rife the profits of the brewers show astounding increases. Watney, Combe, Reid and Company have a- profit of £1,352,354, Compared with £857,176 ' for the previous year—an increase of £500.000. Guinness' profits amount to £3,039,056, Which compares with £2,389,624 ' for 1923-24. Bass, Rate!iff and Gretton have I reserya of £1,000,000; and Mitchells and Sutlers' profits have, increased by £IOO,OOO. Profits, in this industry," says Alderman pTn.il Davies, in Statesman, ''are Increasing so fast that another batch of jeerages may shortly be expected."—Advt.
