THE AKARANA CLUB. • i The Akarana Rifle Club concluded its competition for trophies presented by Messrs. F. 11. Combes. E. J. Reston and A. G. Devore, at the 500 yds and 600 yds ranges, at Penrose on Saturday in unsettled weather. The respective winners were Riflemen S. Elliott, J. R. Draffin and H. Dickey and silver spoons went to Riflemen \\. Powell, J. R. Draffin and 11. Dickey. Results wore as follow: A Section (Mr. Combo's trophy).—'W. Tho City and Suburbs Rifle Club's final shoot of the first competition for trophies presented by Messrs. J. B. Johnston and F Clark was fired at Pcnroso on Saturday. \ strong gal© from the right troubled tho marksmen in adjusting their wind-gauges. In A grade, the deputy-president. Rifleman A J Pieterson, outshone his competitors by putting on 90 points, scoring 48 at each of the 500 yds and 000 yds ranges. During his last three visits to the firing mound Mr Pieterson has scoiid 49. 48 and 48. dropping only five pointi; out of 150. Rifleman P. J Pring, who scored tho greatest number of trophy points during tho series, won Mr. P. Clark's trophy. The competition in B grade was won by Rifleman S. Griffiths with 84 points after a close contest at each range. Ho wins outright Mr. J. B. Johnston's trophy. Detailed results are as follow: A Grade.—Mr. A. J.
