AVONDALE FINANCES.
INVESTIGATION ORDERED. BOROUGH COUNCIL'S DECISION. The Avondale Borough Council has decide'] to have the financial affairs of the borough investigated. At the meeting of the council on Wednesday Mr. W. Pendlsbury moved that a. municipal expert and qualified accountant be engaged to investigate thoroughly the affairs of the borough from March, 1924 ;' the auditor fo make a detailed examination of all receipts and payments from that date, and to produce a balance-sheet as at September 30, 1925: this work to be supplemented by a detailed report concerning the manner in -which the books had been kept. On completion a copy of the report to be presented to each member of the council. The motion, which was seconded by Mr. J. V. Biesterer. led to some discussion. Mr. P. Richardson said it was only fair to the members of the council and the ratepayers that the whole matter should Le thoroughly investigated. ' Other members agreed and the resolution was carried unanimously.
