REFUGEES FROM MOSUL.
CHARGES AGAINST TURKS. FATE OF WOMEN AND INFANTS. Sun. BAGDAD. Oct. 21. The town of Zakho, in Irak, is swarming with male Christian refugees from Mosul, where the. recent Turkish raids occurred. The Turks have retained all the women. The refugees tell most harrowing stories of how bullets and bayonets summarily ended the lives of aged stragglers. Piteous appeals were made for babies, whom the Turks hurled over precipices. The fugitives declare that old women were massacred. Beautiful girls were violated by the officers, and then callously thrown to the soldiers. Over 100 women were sold to Kurdish harems.
The Government of Irak is providing the refugees with necessities with the greatest difficulty and at considerable expense, owing to the failure of the crops.
