POPULARITY OF ZOO.

ATTENDANCES TO DATE, OVER HALF A MILLIONA total of 587.212 persons have visited the Auckland Zoological Gardens since the new park was opened on December 17, 1922. Of that number 158.320 were children. These figures were given in a return ■which was before the City Council last evening. It was shown that from the opening day to March 31, 1923, the attendance was 23,552 adults and 12,826 children. The figures in the following half- ! yearly periods were-To September 30, ! 1923,' 37,275 adults and 21,337 chiidren; } to March 31, 1924, 89,363 and 41,772; to j September 30. 1924, 90,927 and 30,364; to i March 31, 1925, 87,5x34 and 21,868; to September 50, 1925 , 99,940 and 22,153. This gave a total of 428,892 adults and 158,320 children.
