SETTLEMENT OF DISPUTES, i PROCEDURE AGREED UPON, j [by TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT."j : WELLINGTON, Thursday. | In connection with the Press Association ! message from Greymouth announcing a j settlement of the timbering dispute at the j State coalmines the Under-Secretary of j Mines, Mr. A. H. Kimbell, mentioned to- j day that in addition to the settlement j arrived at it was agreeed two weeks ago that in the event of any differences of opinion arising between the miners employed in a place arid an official as to the method of timbering to be .adopted, the | matter should be immediately referred to I the manager and the workmen's inspectors I for settlement. Failing an agreement I being made by them the matter in dispute should be then referred to the inspector I of mines for the district, whose decision j would be final, and binding on both j parties.
Pending a settlement being reached it was provided that the management would, if possible, find another place for the miners. That procedure, added Mr. Kimbell, was followed out by all the other mines on the Coast.
