GRANTS FOR METALLING.

UNDERTAKING FOR UPKEEP, DEPARTMENTAL REQUIREMENTS. [BY TELEGRAPH. OWN CORRESPONDENT. ] HAMILTON. Wednesday. The Public Works Department advised the Waikato County Council yesterday that in future no Government funds would he authorised for metalling until there was an assurance from the local body concerned that it was in a position to, and willing to, annually provide sufficient, money to adequately maintain such metalling. It was, therefore, necessary that a resolution in accordance with tho above should he carried before any proposals for metalling were forwarded to the department.
