DEEP-SEA FISHING.
GOOD CATCHES AT FIJI. [from our own correspondent.] SUVA, Oct. 5. Sir Maynard Hedstrom reports that he and Mr. H. Cornforth, Australian manacer of the Vacuum Oil Company, had a fmo day's fishing for big fish at Lekutu, which is on the north-west corner of the island of Vanua Levu, a few days ago. On the first day they landed 17 fish, weighing 2601b., the largest, sanga weighing, 351b., 341b. and 331b. On the second day they landed 20 fish, weighing 20011)., the largest scaling two sanga at 291b. each. Although it was Mr. Cornforth's first essay after big game fish he landed on the first day sanga—the West Indian Cava Hi Jack—"weighing 21.1b. and 351b. arid a wain—like Spanish mackerel —of 1711). This is regarded as an excellent performance.
