FASHIONABLE NOVELTIES.
The vogue for cut glass is further extended by the use of mug-shaped cut glass coffee cups and saucers, which are the latest smart, idea, states an English exchange. Cut glass grape fruit holders are also new, as well as similar shaped glasses on a fixed saucer base and silver mounted intended for peach Melha and other fruit dainties. Most charming knife-rests, made in the lovely " cloudy " crystal, engraved by a French artist in unique and unrepealed designs, are also to be seen. Some fascinating early morning teasets have been put on the market. These are made of Doulton china in shagreen patterns, mounted in silver gilt and set on a small round glass tray with white enamel rim edged with rcai shagreen to match. Another new set on a small giltedged circular tray is in Worcester china in a lovely soft lavender, .as well as in Sevres blue, pink, and greea. A good many things which have not been obtainable since the war are reappearing on the market as novelties, a very welcome reappearance being that of the beehive honevpot in china, with a bee on the top and a silver-plated holder and handle. The latest version of the fashionable fob is a band of rolled gold chain work with a little chain purse attached instead of a .watch. Another new fob in moire ribbon has a small circular mirror in brilliantly coloured composition in place of the watch. The newest and most original pendants are made of crystal combined with leather either in brilliant, red or gilt. Though sold in Paris, they arc designed and made by an Englishman. Coloured widely striped silks are seen m umbrellas for the spring, and already a now and a very smart " stumpy " edition of the cretonne parasol is being shown in striking and very bold designs. White kid parasols are also new and very fashionable. Among tho many handkerchief novelties are some with spring flowers, such as tulips or daffodils, appliqued in col- j ; oured linen on the corner..
