INTERPROVINCIAL EIGHTS.

—— 1 CANTERBURY IN FAVOUR, INSTRUCTION TO DELEGATES. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] CHRISTCHURCH, Wednesday. Canterbury is in favour of the establishment of interprovincinl eights, and at the annual meeting of delegates to the Canterbury Rowing Association it was decided to instruct the Canterbury delegates to the annual meeting of the New Zealand Amateur Rowing Association to vote in favour of interprovincial eights, in lieu of interprovincial fours. During the discussion, Mr. W. Duggan said he did not think the association should turn the proposal down. It should do all it could to encourage rowing. Mr. G. Hi Hobbs: That was what was said about the interprovincial fours. Mr. R. J. Hobbs said eight-oared rowing in Australia was the great event. Mr. Duggan said anything would fall through if there were no support coming from the centres. The chairman, Mr. F. D. Kesteven, considered that the association should support the eight-oared interprovincial contests in lieu of interprovincial fours.. Mr. R. J. Hobbs said the art union was partly for the encouragement of eightoared rowing. If this project were turned down ho did not know what the Minister for Internal Affairs would say.
