BAPTIST CONFERENCE.

LEAGUE OF NATIONS' WORK. SUPPORT FROM TOE UNION. A deputation comprising the Rev. G. J. Tocker, the Rev. G. H. Gibb and Mr. H. Dearsley waited on the Baptist Conference yesterday from the Auckland branch of the League of Nations Union. The deputation explained the aims and methods, of the League, and urged that the Baptist Union make a pronouncement in support of its work. The conference passed a resolution recording its unhesitating appirovsa and support of the principles for which " the League stood and commending the claims of the League of Nations Union to the confidence and support of the Baptist ministers and churches. The annuity fund committee' reported that interest was maintained on the part of ministers, this being borne out by the contribution of £233 4s ICkl in entrance fees and premiums. There were three annuitants on the fund, two receiving £IOO and one £75 a year. Thirty-nine churches subscribed a total of £l6O 15s 10d during the year. The funds stood at £9068, with an additional £SOO held by the Gray memorial fund. The funds were invested on first-class security for mortgages, £SOO being . represented in war bonds. The year's receipts were £2039 18s 6d, and the payments £IBOS 6s Bd. Mr. H. Dearsley urged that the fund should be raised to £20.000 as soon as possible. It was announced that Mrs. Randall, of the Napier Church, had secured a corner section adjoining the present church, at a cost of £2OOO, and had vested it in the Baptist Union for the benefit of the Napier branch. The Napier Church was heartily congratulated on the acquisition, and the donor was warmly thanked.
