BRITISH BUILDINGS FIRE.
INSURANCE ON CONTENTS. The British Buildings in Queen Street, i which were damaged by fire on Tuesday night, are owned by the Auckland ElectricPower Board and are insured for £3500 in the office of the New Zealand Insurance Company. There are various offices in I the building and. the insurances on the j contents of these are as follows:—Mr. R. I' A. Singer's office, £4OO in the Queensland Office; the offices of the Hotel and Restaurant Workers' Onion, £7OO in the same office; Messrs. A. W. Robertson and j Company's shop, £ISOO in the Sun; I Messrs. Ross and Company's shop, £I7OO | in the National; and the British Hotel, £I6OO in the London, Liverpool and Globe. I ft is thought that the fire originated j in a small cupboard used by the caretaker | underneath the stairs between the first J and second floors. It is a coincidence (that a small fire was discovered there on Saturday, but some workmen soon extinguished it.
