MOTHER'S LAST KISS.
PLEA TO YOUNG DAUGHTER. WOMAN DIES FROM POISON. fraOM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT. j SYDNEY, Oct. 8. A young widow, Sirs. Alice Eraser, collapsed in King Edward Park, Newcastle, last Monday night and died in the hospital a few hours later. "Kiss me, Marjorie; I have taken poison," Mrs. Iraser is said to have cried to her 11-year-old daughter, while they were sitting in the park. The girl hurried to the Westminster Hotel, where she and her mother had been staying, and informed the licensee. He and a police officer rushed in a motor-car to the park and took Mrs. Fraser to hospital, where she died at midnight. Mrs. Eraser, who had lately lived at Gunnedah. had not been in good health. Her daughter Marjorie is alone in the world. She has no friends nor relatives in Australia and, as far as can be ascertained, is without money. She will be taken care of at the Westminster Hotel until an aunt, who, it is understood, resides in New Zealand, is located. The child, it is believed, was born in New Zealand, but she is unable to tell her mother's maiden name, or the name of her aunt. Marjorie is a well-dressed, nicely spoken youngster, wn,h bobbed, flaxen hair and sharp features. She does not realise her plight. The woman and child went to Mayfiehi. a suburb of Newcastle, on Monday, and when thev returned purchased a, box of chocolates "Give me two soft ones, please," the mother is alleged to have Lid to the girl. It was after this that she asked the child to kiss her.
