THE BAY OF PLENTY.
FARMERS GETTING AHEAD. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT. ] TAUIiA N' GA. Tuesday. The moist, humid weather of the past three days has benefited pastures considerably. The spring has been later than usual, but there is now good growth on the farms and the dairy herds are responding generously. Nearly all the herds are now at profit, and a continuation uf the, present weather conditions will be welcomed. Farmers are pushing on with the preparation of land in readiness for the planting of maize, both for grain and green feed. A large area will be planted. Maize is the principal grain crop here, and is also a large factor as a green crop for supplementary feed for dairy cows later in the season. Most of the lucerne stands have undergone their annual cultivation process and are nt>w carrying a luxuriant growth.
