LAUNCH REGULATIONS.

OBJECTION BY ENGINEER. Regulations recently issued by the Marine Department requiring the insulation of engine-rooms of vessels driven by internal combustion engines are not regarded us necessary or helpful, by the engineer to the Auckland Harbour Board. At the meeting of the board yesterday the engineer reported that the new 24ft. launch for the board was almost completed, but the regulations had somewhat delayed tho work and added to the cost. He did not consider the new regulations added to the safety of the board's launches. The matter had been taken up with the Marine Department, which, although insisting on observance of the regulations in connection with the new launch, had agreed to suspend them in the meantime in their application to vessels already in commission.
