TURKEY'S CLAIM TO MOSUL.
MILITARY PREPARATIONS. NATIONAL DEFENCE PLEA. VEILED THREAT UTTERED. By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright. (Received 7.5 p.m.) A. and N.JS. LONDON. Oct. 1. The Constantinople correspondent of the Daily Telegraph says the newspaper Djumhouriet admits that Turkey is making military preparations. it asserts, however, that these are directed solely to national defence. " It would be erroneous to assume that Turkey with her arms folded would permit Engla,nd to acquire Mosul for the benefit of her petrol kings," observes the paper. "We hope the English people will exert their influence to obtain an equitable solution of the question.' Another message from Constantinople says the newspapers publish notices summoning for military service four classes from 22 to 2A years of age. Officers of the first and second reserves are invited to present themselves for medical examination.
