M, Vincent last evening:— Squally and unsettled weather is indicated, with heavy showers, accompanied by hail and thunder at times, especially in western and southern districts. Westerly to south-westerly winds, strong to gale. Seas rough on west coast. Barometer, midnight, 29.6G, rising. GOVERNMENT REPORT. The Government meteorologist reported last evening that the indications were for northerly and westerty winds, strong to gale, backing to south«rlies northward of Farewell Spit and Kaikoura, southerlies prevailing elsewhere. Unsettled boisterous weather with general heavy rain in the South Island, and snow on the higher levels, could be expected. The barometer would rise everywhere soon, RAINFALL RECORD.
