ANOTHER CONFERENCE HELD.
GOVERNMENT VIEW WANTED.

The scheme for the drainage and development of the. Woodlands Swamp urea was further, discussed at a conference of drainage board representatives at Hamilton. Mr. A. H. Waring presided, and pointed out that the actual cost would probably greatly exceed the estimated cost. Mr. J. Matthews said the Woodlands Drainage Board could not support the project because its ratepayers already taxed so heavily that they could not stand any additional rating. He suggested that the Government should undertake the work and carry the burden for ja few years until the ratepayers were in a | position. to, shoulder it., ' • 'lt was 8 decided to adjourn the conference to a date when 'representatives bf the Lfuads Department would'ba in Hamilton, - and could. place before , thd meeting the Government's point' of ,view.
