A RECTOR AT COURT.
Tho Rev. Harold F. Davidson, rector of Stiffkey, Norfolk, was summoned at Walsingham (recently, for non-payment of the poor rate (£3B lis), made in April. Dressed in a black gown, the rector cross-examined overseeis, one of whom replied: If you were a gentleman you would pay your rates as I do. You get £BOO a year. What do you do with your money?" " I have no money to pay," said the rector, who stated that his living was £823 gross and £516 net. " You must cut your cloth according to your garment," said the chairman of the Bench, who ordered the rector to pay by September 1.
