AUCKLAND STOCK EXCHANGE
Little business was done on the Auckland sfraremarket yesterday. Apart from Government securities, however, m >vliicli the demand showed no impro- lament, there was inquiry for first-class securities at lato rates. In banks, /itistralasiae, which sold last week at .£l4 7s 6d, changed hands at £l4 7s, late holders being at £l4 7s 6d, buyers, £l4 ss. New Zealahds again sold at 575, late buyers maintaining their previous oflcr at the sale figure, holders asking 57s 3d. Iu insurances, Mew Zealands receded, holders being threepence lower at 35s 3d, buyers being similarly lower at, 35s 9d. South British showed no changn at holders, 51s 6d, buyers, 51s. In gas, there was a salo of Aucklar.ds at 22s 81, late inquiry being at this figure, holders 22s lOd. In shipping, two sa'es of Northerns took place at the Lite price of 16s, closing quotations being holders 16s 3d, buyers 15s 9d. Timber shares were again freely quoted at ruling rates. In miscellaneous lines, Taranaki Oils fluctuated, final holders being higher at 22s 6d, and buyers also firmer at 21s 6d. In mining, Waihis at 25s 3d were sought at 24s lOd. The following sales took place-Bank of Australasia, £l4 7s: Bank of New Zealand, 575; Auckland Gas. 22s 8d; Northern Steamship, 16s (two bales').
