The output from January 1 to August 31 was 796,000 bales, against 1,034,000 bales for the same time last year. The stocks in Great Britain on August 31 were 29,000 bales, against 6800. The stocks in Manila .are 159,000 bales, against 121,000. New Zealand is in hotter demand and sales includo highpoints and fair. SeptemberNovember shipments, £39 to £39 10s: fair, £35 10s to £36; -fair, afloat, £36 to £36 10s; common, £52 10s; rejected, £3O 10s. Wool.—The prices for tops are the same as last quotations. At the Melbourne wool sales there was food general competition. Good to super lerinos and best combacks brought fully 5 per cent, above last week's best rates. CHICAGO WHEAT MARKET. A. and N.Z. NEW YORK. Sept. 14. Chicago Wheat. —September, 1 dollar 49J,- cents; December, 1 dollar cents; May, 1 dollar 52J cents. HIDES AND SHEEPSKINS. AUCKLAND MARKET PRICES. Prices for hides and sheepskins at the Bales in Auckland yesterday were practically on a par with those of. last sale, there being little or no difference in prices for hides, and calfskins and sheepskins finding if anything, only a slightly better market. The following prices were realised:— Hides.—Cow: Best, light, 6}d to 64d per lb.; best medium, to heavy, GJd to GJd; second grade and scored, 4Jd to 52d: cut and faulty, 4{d to 5Jd. Ox: Best, light, GJd to 6Jd per lb.; best medium, 7sd to Bid; best heavy, BJd to BJd; with substance, Did to lid; cut and scored. 5Jd. to Gld.
