THE TECHNICAL COLLEGE.

ADDITIONS TO BUILDING. THE PREPARATION OF PLANS. " m* , The board of managers of Seddon Memorial Technical College met last evening, the chairman, Mr. H. S. W. King, presiding. This was the first meeting since appointment of the members, as follows: Messrs. H, S. W. King and J. P. McPhail' (representing the Auckland Education Board), C. H Fufness and W, N. Mcintosh (representing local bodies), J. A. C. Allum and H. Dearsley, (representing associations of employers), R. F. Barter and C. H. Watts (representing associations of employees), R. G. Speight (representing school committees) T. Julian, A. Burt, and Mrs. E. E. Jensen (representing parents of children). A vote of thanks was accorded retiring members for their services. Mr. King was appointed chairman, and Mr. Burt deputy-chairman. A report of a deputation to the Education Department in connection with plans of additions to buildings and an assembly hall, and an account presented to the college for the preparation of plans submitted for extensions was received. No progress had been found possible in the matter of employing private architects tor the extensions. However, plans .submitted by the department and providing for an extension of one storey in the front of the building were approved, this being the plan previously agreed upon by the college authorities as most suitable. The account submitted for preparation of earlier plans, which caused some dissatisfaction at a previous meeting, had been withdrawn, the department stating it was presented in error. A message was received that the new plans would probably be ready within two months, when the Public Works Department would call for tenders. The matter of expediting the preparation of the plans was put in the hands of the executive committee, with power to act. A replv was received from the City Council Parks Committee that the exclusive use on weekday afternoons of the tennis courts at Victoria Park could not be allowed to the college.
