DUNEDIN EXHIBITION.
THE PROBLEM OF FINANCE. BUILDINGS WILL BE READY. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN COMIESPONDENT.] DUNEDIN, Tuesday. At the second ordinary general meeting of shareholders in the New Zealand and South Seas Exhibition Company Mr. 0. Speight said that as far as they could see the buildings would bo complete and ready by the opening day. They had spent in tho vicinity of £150,000 or, £160,000 on (the buildings and grounds, but there was Still a great deal of work to be done. The finances were in a very straitened position ; and it had been necessary to approach the Government for, further financial assistance. They had asked for a loan of £20,000, which ' had _ ultimately ' been granted. Since then, owing to the Amusement Park having to be financed by the company,,, it became necessary to raise another £25,000. They, approached -a (number of leading citizens and these came to their assistance, promising practically the total, amount, required. At the same time, they had approached the Government to see if they could arrange for assistance 'and that had" been granted, subject to certain financial arrangements. They believed they would have ample money for their requirements up to the opening "day. The financing of the 1 exhibition had caused them no end of trouble and anxiety. They had somewhere in the vicinity of £58,000 let in space fees. If they could get it in as. early as possible, and it was required urgently, before, the,, end . of October, their finances would be assured.,
