NAVY MEN AND LIQUOR.

(Published By Arrangement.) Sir,—l wish you ceroid have brought every advocate of drink to my hall duraig tho evenings of tho past week to see what the deadly poison is doing to tho friendly visitors from the fleet. Boys of 17 are met with a drug they have no knowledge of and are snared in the very name of hospitality. .Wo had 100 on Saturday night, most of them mere boys. Sis were dreadfully ill, while two were in a critical condition. We had to pile up blankets on their sick, shivering bodies, and, with hot water bottles and hot coffee, keep tho life in them. One vomited black blood, and was in a deadly state. My workers did all that human love could do to help theso sick lads, drugged and injured by our accursed drink customs. If ever my woman's, heart has flamed with burning indignation against the pitiless drink traffic, it has been at tho sight, of these bonnie boys, sons of far distant mothers, tempted and dragged in the midst of our Christian civilisation. I appeal, nay demand, that something be done to wipe this shame from • our fair • name during the remaining days of the fleet's stay. Let. every citizen show unbounded and generous hospitality, let civilians and . police vigilantly watch and protest against the supply of liquor to boys under 21 years of age, which is contrary to the law, and let us remember tho women of U.S.A., who have helped to banish the drink from their bordors, and will weep their hearts out to kuow their lads have been injured by the false Hospitality of a friendly nation. Let us redeem our . fair namo before the boys lcavo us. Yours, in service to God and man. „ ( Bessie Lee Cowtk. gap | .. 7A, Hamilton Road, Hcrno Buy.
