RIFLE SHOOTING.
♦ MARKSMEN AT PRACTICE. Another practice shoot in preparation lor competition with a team from the American Fleet was held by senior members of the Akarana and City and Suburbs RLE© Clubs at Penrose on Saturday. In 1903 a team from the Auckland district was tho only one to defeat the Americans, and, as Admiral Coontz'a mon havo succeeded in winning against picked Australian teams, local marksmen are keoa to get into tho Equad that will endiavour to retain tho "Ashes." The competition v?as a match between two teams captained by Messrs. A- E. Hughes and .T. C. Yoo respectively, and resulted in a win for, the former by the narrow margin of 4 points after a keen contest. Tho best individual scores were those of A. G. Lowe and A. G.
