FLOOD GATES GIVE WAY.
QUICK RELIEF FOR FARMS. [BY telegraph.—own correspon dent. ] WHAKATANE, Monday. As a result of one of the flood gates being carried away from the Kopeopeo dredge cut tho flood waters from the plains got away very rapidly on Saturday and most of tho country is now practically freo of water. This furnishes a further argument in favour of the proposed diversion of tho Kopeopeo cut to prevent flood waters lying stagnant over a larg# area for several days.
