RIVER IMPROVEMENT SCHEME [BY TELT.GItAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] PAEROA, Monday. Tlio Mayor of Waihi wroto to tlio Paeroa Chamber of Commerce requesting support in a movement to have tho Waihou and Ohinemuri River improvement scheme nationalised. Tho matter was referred to tho executive to confer with the Paeroa Borough Council and tho Ohinemuri County Council. The recently-formed Paeroa Orphans' Club held Its first ladies' evening last week. Tho attendance numbered'about 180. The chairman, Mr. C. E. Andrews, gavo an interesting address on Egypt. • Electric lighting is to bo iuslulled in tho post office. The newly-formed Paeroa, Ladies' Hockey Club played a match against tho Ngatoa team and won by 1 goal to 0. Miss V. Shand was tho scorer. Mr. ! Lawrence was referee.
