WEMBLEY CERTIFICATES.

MISTAKE BY THE PRINTERS.

FOREIGN PAPER WITHDRAWN.

The certificates of honour issued to exhibitors in last year's British Empire Exhibition, which were printed on foreignmade paper, have been withdrawn. This statement was made by Sir Travers Clarke, Chiof Administrator to the Exhibition, a few weeks ago. "The British Empiro Exhibition authorities," Sir Travers said, "have made a close investigation into the circumstances. The following letter from the printers of the certificates, signed by thoir managing director, will make it clear that the use of a foreign paper was purely accidental and was not sanctioned by the Exhibition authorities: — Sir,—-I have to express the deep regret of my firm for the mistake by which paper of foreign manufacture was used for the printing of the certificate oi honour of the British Empire Exhibition. Wo wero aware, when submitting a tender for the work, that a condition of the contract was the use of British Empire products solely, and all the specimens of paper which were submitted with our tender were of British manufacture. The sample chosen by you was necessarily, therefore, of British manufacture. Through a mistake which we deeply regret, and into the cause of which we are making inquiry, a paner of foreign manufacture was used instead of the British paper selected. Wo shall be happy to reprint the certificate on British paper at our own expense, and also to make good to the British Empiro Exhibition authorities the cost of withdrawing such certificates which have been already issued. I need not assure you that the use of the foreign paper was purely accidental." " We have, therefore, decided to withdraw the certificates printed on foreign paper," Sir Travers added. " A certain number have been already issued to exhibitors, but if the recipients will be good enough to return these to the secretary of the Exhibition, fresh certificates will be issued to them."
