TAINTING FOR MUSEUM.

OLD MECHANICS' BAY.

An interesting oil painting lias been presented to the Old Colonists' Museum by Mrs. Arthur Richmond, of Auckland. The picture represents Mechanics' Bay before the reclamations had been completed and shows the old breastwork which fronted tlio harbour at the time, and the brickworks which took raw material from tlio surrounding cliffs. The picture was painted by Mr. A. Aldis, an English artist, who resided for some years in Auckland. It was acquired for the Old Colonists' Museum through Sir Edwin Mitehelson.
